Butt Welder

GC Non-Ferrous Solid Wire Butt Welder for Copper & Aluminum

The GC is Micro Weld’s G Series welder purpose-built for non-ferrous solid wire — copper, aluminum, brass, and bronze — in mid-range diameters. It runs on 120V, 240V, or 480V single phase to fit existing plant power, uses solid-state heat control for repeatable weld quality, and relies on hand-operated clamps with spring-actuated mechanical upset for straightforward operation without air supply. Bench or 4-wheel floor mount options put it wherever the production flow needs it.

Applications

Splicing solid copper wire on continuous drawing or stranding lines to keep production running without pulling and re-threading new coils

Joining solid aluminum wire ahead of extrusion, rolling, or forming operations where consistent wire diameter and weld integrity are required

Welding brass and bronze solid wire for precision parts manufacturing — springs, contacts, and formed wire components — where alloy consistency at the joint matters

Rejoining mid-range non-ferrous solid wire on coilers, payoff stands, or take-up equipment to reduce downtime between coil changes

Real-World Benefits

  • Solid-state heat control delivers repeatable, operator-independent heat selection across copper, aluminum, brass, and bronze — reducing weld variation when running multiple alloys on a shared machine.
  • Multi-voltage input (120V / 240V / 480V) means the GC installs on existing plant power in virtually any facility without requiring a dedicated circuit or transformer upgrade.
  • Hand-operated clamps with spring-actuated mechanical upset eliminate the need for an air supply — simplifying installation and reducing the number of systems that need maintenance.
  • Bench or 4-wheel truck mounting gives operations the flexibility to position the welder at a draw bench, in-line with a coiler, or at a dedicated joining station on the production floor.
  • G Series architecture — shared across the GC, GS, and GT — means operators already familiar with one model can cross-train on the GC with minimal ramp-up time.

Comparison to Similar Models

The GC sits within the G Series alongside the GS and GT, but it’s the only one built for non-ferrous materials. The GS and GT are both steel-focused ferrous welders; the GC handles copper, aluminum, brass, and bronze. Within Micro Weld’s broader product line, the GC occupies the mid-range of non-ferrous solid wire capacity — above the E1C fine wire welder (.015–.050 in copper/aluminum) and well below the AD Series, which handles large MCM conductors with pneumatic upset and SCR control. If your solid copper wire tops out around .128 in or solid aluminum around .200 in, the GC is the right fit. Beyond those ranges, step up to the AD Series.

Mid-range non-ferrous solid wire producers — copper drawing operations, aluminum wire manufacturers, and precision brass/bronze wire fabricators — who need a reliable, air-free butt welder with multi-voltage flexibility and solid-state heat control in a compact bench or truck footprint.
