GT Fine-to-Mid Range Solid Steel Butt Welder for Ferrous Wire Production
The GT is Micro Weld’s G Series welder for solid ferrous wire in the fine-to-mid diameter range — steel, stainless steel, and titanium from .020 to .150 inches. It occupies a precise position in the ferrous lineup: above the E1S fine wire welder, which tops out at .062 in, and below the GS, which starts at .035 in and reaches .225 in. For operations running solid steel wire in the .020–.150 in range, the GT covers it cleanly without the overhead of a larger machine. Multi-voltage input (120V, 240V, or 480V), solid-state heat control, and spring-actuated mechanical upset keep installation simple and operation straightforward. Optional anneal and shear accessories allow post-weld finishing at the same station.

Applications
Splicing solid steel wire in the .020–.150 in range on continuous drawing lines to maintain production feed and eliminate wire-end scrap between coil changes
Joining spring steel wire at fine-to-mid diameters ahead of coiling or forming operations where weld strength and cross-section consistency are required to survive mechanical stress in service
Welding solid stainless steel and titanium wire for precision components — surgical wire, aerospace fasteners, and specialty formed parts — where alloy integrity through the weld zone is a quality requirement
Rejoining solid ferrous wire on take-up, pay-off, or straightening equipment in the .020–.150 in range to keep high-throughput lines running without stopping to re-thread
Real-World Benefits
- .020–.150 in solid steel range bridges the gap between Micro Weld’s E1S fine wire welder and the heavier GS — covering diameters that fall outside both without requiring operators to overspec into a larger, more expensive machine.
- Multi-voltage input (120V / 240V / 480V) fits existing plant power in any facility configuration without requiring a dedicated circuit or step-down transformer.
- Solid-state heat control delivers consistent, repeatable heat selection across steel, stainless, and titanium at fine-to-mid wire diameters where heat precision directly affects weld quality and downstream part performance.
- Hand-operated clamps with spring-actuated mechanical upset keep the machine air-free — removing the need for air supply infrastructure and reducing maintenance points in the joining station.
- Optional slot-type or quick clip anneal device and ETS hand shear enable post-weld annealing and trimming at the same station, reducing handling steps between joining and the next production operation.
Comparison to Similar Models
The GT sits between the E1S and the GS in Micro Weld’s ferrous solid wire lineup. The E1S covers fine wire from .010–.062 in; the GT picks up from .020 in and extends to .150 in; the GS covers .035–.225 in. There is overlap between the GT and both neighboring models — the .035–.062 in range is covered by all three — so the right choice depends on which end of the range matters most for your operation. If you’re primarily running wire above .150 in, the GS is the better fit. If your wire is consistently below .062 in, the E1S is the purpose-built fine wire option.
The GT is the right call when your production centers in the .020–.150 in range and you want a right-sized machine without the capacity overhead of the GS. The GT and GS share the same G Series multi-voltage (120V / 240V / 480V), mechanical upset architecture; the E1S, while also a mechanical upset machine, is not a G Series model and runs on 120V single phase.
Best For
Spring, precision wire, aerospace, and medical wire manufacturers joining solid steel, stainless, or titanium in the .020–.150 in range who need a right-sized ferrous butt welder that covers fine-to-mid diameters without stepping up to a heavier machine.
