GP-0 Ceramic Fusion Butt Welder for Fine Stranded Copper & Aluminum
The GP-0 is the entry point of Micro Weld’s GP Ceramic Fusion Series — five models purpose-built for burr-free butt welding of stranded and bunched copper and aluminum conductor. Where conventional butt welders leave a weld flash that requires grinding or trimming, the GP series uses a ceramic sleeve to contain the flash during the weld, producing a clean, smooth joint straight off the machine. The GP-0 handles the finest end of the GP range — 26 AWG through 18 AWG stranded copper and aluminum — running on 120V single phase with solid-state heat control, a hand-operated clamping mechanism, and spring upset. A ceramic sleeve sample pack is included.

Applications
Welding fine stranded copper conductor on magnet wire and transformer winding lines where a burr or flash at the joint would cause insulation damage or a short circuit
Joining fine stranded aluminum bunches ahead of twisting, stranding, or insulating operations where a clean, full-cross-section weld is required without downstream finishing
Splicing fine wire harness conductor on automotive or electronics assembly lines where joint appearance and dimensional consistency affect fit and function
Rejoining fine stranded conductor on pay-off stands and coilers to maintain continuous feed without stopping the line for re-threading
Real-World Benefits
- Ceramic sleeve containment produces a burr-free weld joint without grinding, trimming, or post-weld finishing — eliminating a secondary operation and reducing handling time per splice.
- Solid-state heat control delivers consistent, repeatable heat input on fine stranded conductor where overcooking destroys strand integrity and undercooking produces a cold joint.
- Hand-operated clamps with spring upset eliminate the need for an air supply — keeping installation simple and maintenance overhead low in bench or floor-mount configurations.
- 120V single-phase power means the GP-0 plugs into standard facility power anywhere in the plant without dedicated electrical infrastructure.
- Ceramic sleeve sample pack included at shipment lets operators qualify the process and confirm sleeve sizing before committing to production consumable stock.

Comparison to Similar Models
The GP-0 is the smallest model in the five-machine GP Ceramic Fusion Series, covering 26–18 AWG stranded copper and aluminum. Capacity steps up through the GP-1, GP-2, and GP-3 as AWG range increases, with the HP-1.1 rounding out the series at the top end for larger stranded conductor. All GP models share the same ceramic fusion architecture, bench-or-truck mounting, and solid-state heat control — the primary difference between models is welding range.
If your stranded conductor falls within 26–18 AWG, the GP-0 is the right fit. For larger AWG stranded or bunched conductor, move up the GP Series to the GP-1, GP-2, GP-3, or HP-1.1.
Best For
Magnet wire, transformer winding, fine wire harness, and electronics conductor producers joining stranded copper or aluminum in the 26–18 AWG range who require a burr-free weld joint without post-weld grinding or finishing.
