J5S Steel & Stainless Rod Butt Welder

Transform your welding operations with the JS Series Micro Weld Butt Welders — engineered for durability, performance, and consistent, high-quality welds on solid steel, stainless, and titanium wire and rod. The J5S steps up to heavier work, welding solid steel from .060 in (1,52 mm) to .250 in (6,35 mm) on a substantially larger 440-lb chassis. Its bigger transformer sustains demanding duty cycles, while solid-state 99-step SCR heat control delivers fine, repeatable heat for stainless and titanium. Foot-actuated dual-action clamping and upset ensure a consistent upset every cycle, on 240V, 480V, or 600V single-phase power.

Applications

Joining mid-to-heavy solid steel, stainless, or titanium wire and rod ahead of drawing, forming, or coiling

Continuous-line splicing in spring, fastener, wire-form, fencing, and reinforcing-mesh production

Rejoining stock on payoff and take-up lines to keep a running line fed

Stainless and titanium wire and rod joining where a clean, full-strength butt weld is required

Real-World Benefits

  • Extra heavy-duty transformer supports continuous processing of steel wire and rod without duty-cycle stalls.
  • Solid-state 99-step SCR heat control delivers fine, repeatable heat selection — important for consistent results on stainless and titanium.
  • Foot-actuated, dual-action clamping and upset keep both hands free for wire handling and give a consistent, operator-independent upset.
  • Selectable 240V, 480V, or 600V single-phase power makes the machine easy to drop into most shop services.
  • Mobile 4-wheel truck lets the station move to the line; anneal, vise, shear, and grinder options handle prep, weld, and finish.

Comparison to Similar Models

The J5S sits in the upper-middle of the ferrous JS Series, welding solid steel, stainless, and titanium from .060 in to .250 in (1.52–6.35 mm). It shares the “S” line’s metals and chassis but not the size of the smaller models.

Where the J3S and J4S are 180-lb machines on 120/240/480V, the J5S is a larger 440-lb machine on 240/480/600V with a bigger transformer (139/69/57 max draw) for heavier duty cycles. Choose it when your steel exceeds the J4S’s .160 in ceiling; step up to the J6S (.187–.375 in) for the heaviest rod. For non-ferrous or flat stock, use the JC or JSF lines.

Shops running mid-to-heavy solid steel, stainless, or titanium wire and rod (.060–.250 in) that need more capacity than the J4S and a heavy-duty transformer for continuous production.
