Butt Welder

RW-2 Ring Welder | Steel Rings .08–.25 in

The RW-2 builds on Micro Weld’s RW ring-welding platform for slightly larger work, joining solid steel and titanium rings from .080 to .250 in (2.03–6.35 mm). Designed for high-speed piece production and coil-to-coil wire welding, it uses Interlock 108 SCR weld control with electrically controlled, pneumatically actuated clamps and upset to turn out fast, consistent welds. Still compact at 280 lbs and mounted on a heavy-duty caster truck, the RW-2 adds capacity over the RW-1 while keeping the same clean, efficient ring-welding workflow.

Real-World Benefits

  • Added range: Extends capacity beyond the RW-1 while keeping the same fast cycle times.
  • Clear work area: A heavy-duty work lamp improves visibility for accurate ring placement.
  • Efficient upset: Pneumatically actuated clamps and upset keep cycles quick and repeatable.
  • Consistent welds: Interlock 108 SCR weld control delivers uniform energy on each joint.
  • Mobile footprint: At 280 lbs on casters, it relocates easily between workstations.

Comparison to Similar Models

The RW-2 sits between the RW-1 (.030–.187 in) and the RW-3 (.187–.375 in), overlapping the RW-1 near .187 in. If your rings run finer than .080 in, the RW-1 is the better match; for rings consistently above .250 in, move to the RW-3, which adds a sturdier frame. Like the rest of the series, the RW-2 is built for ring closing and coil joining rather than solid-rod piece welding.
