Butt Welder

RW-3 Ring Welder | Steel Rings .187–.375 in

The RW-3 moves Micro Weld’s RW series into mid-range ring welding, joining solid steel and titanium rings from .187 to .375 in (4.75–9.52 mm). Purpose-built for high-speed piece production and coil-to-coil wire welding, it combines Interlock 108 SCR weld control with electrically controlled, pneumatically actuated clamps and upset for rapid, repeatable results on heavier ring stock. At 550 lbs, its sturdier frame supports the greater upset force these larger rings require, making the RW-3 a strong fit for medium-duty ring and loop production.

Real-World Benefits

  • Sturdier frame: At 550 lbs, the machine provides the stability heavier rings demand during upset.
  • Higher capacity: Increased current handles larger ring cross-sections than the RW-1 and RW-2.
  • Fast, repeatable cycles: Pneumatically actuated upset keeps medium-duty production moving.
  • Consistent energy: Interlock 108 SCR weld control maintains uniform weld quality.
  • Optional conditioning: Mechanical or pneumatic anneal devices and water cooling are available.

Comparison to Similar Models

The RW-3 falls between the RW-2 (.080–.250 in) and the RW-4 (.250–.500 in). It’s also the point where the series frame steps up from 280 lbs to 550 lbs, reflecting the added force needed for larger rings. For lighter rings below .187 in, the RW-1 or RW-2 will suit; for the largest rings the series handles, choose the RW-4. As with all RW models, it’s engineered for ring closing and coil joining rather than solid-rod welding.
